Peter Andre says racist thugs once pulled a knife and threatened to kill him on the spot

Peter Andre has opened up about a terrifying racially-motivated incident he experienced during his time living in Australia.

The dad-of-four, 48, was left scared to return to nightclubs until his thirties, after racist thugs pulled a knife on him during a night out in Sydney throughout his youth.

Peter - who today revealed his plans to reunite with his Australian family ASAP after two years apart - has explained how his would-be attackers threatened to finish him "there and then" during the horrifying experience.

The Mysterious Girl singer, who is of Cypriot descent, also admitted that even when he felt confident enough to return to nightclubs once again, he would still feel "very wary and uncomfortable" during his nights out.

Recalling the traumatic incident in his column for new! magazine, the star looked back on his incredible career highlights from over the past 30 years, before moving on to discuss the more challenging times.

"When asked about the bullying and racism that I and my siblings suffered as kids in Australia, I recalled a horrific incident in a nightclub in Sydney," Peter explained.

"A group of guys cornered me and one of them put a knife to my throat and threatened to finish me there and then."

He continued "That night really scared me and put me off going to places like clubs for a while.

"I did go to them again in my thirties, but I always felt very wary and uncomfortable."

Peter - who was born in London but relocated to Australia at the age of six - has previously opened up about some of the racist abuse he was subjected to during his childhood.

Speaking on the YouTube series Life With The Andres in July 2020, the former I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star confessed even some teachers would call him racist names as a kid.

"We suffered racism bad as kids and called greasy wogs. I was beaten quite a few times from kids at the school," the singer recalled when chatting with his brother Danny Andre.

He added: "To this day I don’t wear my hair curly purely because when I look in the mirror I see what those kids used to call me, even now at 47 years old. You'd think I'd be over it."

Peter grew up on the Gold Coast and only relocated to the UK once his music career took off in the 1990s.

Speaking in his column last year, the singer admitted he would be tempted to move back Down Under, as it was reported Kylie Minogue was returning her home country in October 2021 after 30 years in the UK.

The doting dad explained how a move wouldn't be an "easy thing" due to his children and their possible future plans.

The singer has four children; Theo, five, and Amelia, seven, whom he shares with wife Emily Andre, and Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, from a previous marriage.

Peter wrote how any decision he made about his future living plans would be dependent on his offspring's lifestyles and where they wanted to live.
