Peter Andre planning to retire to Cyprus

Peter Andre is planning to retire to a home in the sunshine

Peter Andre is planning to retire to Cyprus.

The 'Mysterious Girl' singer, 51, was born in London and raised in Australia but he's long had a connection to the Mediterranean nation because of his Greek-Cypriot parents and now owns a property there - and Peter has confessed he may eventually give up his home in the UK and spend his twilight years in the sunshine.

In his column for OK! magazine, Peter wrote: "I have my house in Cyprus, so if my family and I wanted to move there, we could, or it’s an option for retiring. I’ll hand it down to my kids and hopefully they’ll pass it to theirs."

Peter is planning to spend Christmas at home with his wife Emily and his children, adding: "Emily and I have a traditional Christmas at home with the kids – we wake up, exchange presents, have a nice dinner, play board games and watch classics like 'Home Alone'."

However, he's hoping to get back to Australia very soon to visit his elderly mum Thea, who is battling Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

He was unable to visit her when she was in hospital this year because Emily was expecting their youngest daughter, Arabella, so Peter is planning a trip Down Under with his brother in the coming weeks.

In a previous column for the magazine, he wrote: "I am going to Australia very, very soon to see my mum and dad. I’m going with my brother Michael, just the two of us and we’re going to spend some real quality time with my mum, dad and sister.

"I need to spend time with my mum, which is going to be emotional. When it comes to her health, we just have to hope and pray that she’s doing OK. It will mean so much to have this time with her."
