Peter Andre has confessed the thought of becoming a granddad at 50 'petrifies' him.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker was reacting to the news Jessie Wallace had become a grandmother after her 17-year-old daughter Tallulah welcomed a baby boy earlier this month.
“Welcome to the world , my grandson SJ. You are loved, cherished and adored,” the EastEnders star shared on Instagram, leaving her fans stunned.
In his column for OK! magazine, Peter discussed his feelings on the subject, and hoped he had a few more years left before he became a grandparent.
“Congratulations to EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace, who has become a grandmother at 50 after her daughter Tallulah gave birth to a baby boy,” he began.
“It’s wonderful news but I’m not going to lie – the thought of becoming a granddad at 50 petrifies me!” Peter admitted.
The singer, 49, shares two children with ex-wife Katie Price - Junior, 16, and Princess, 14 - as well as Millie, 8, and Theo, 5, with second wife Emily.
But he’s wishing the pitter patter of baby feet is a long way off for their family.
“I’m 50 next year and that would definitely be one way to make me feel old,” Peter shared.
“I’m hoping grandfatherhood is a long while away but when it does happen, I would like to be called ‘Pops’ or ‘The OG’, for ‘Old Granddad’. At least ‘The OG’ sounds cool!” he joked.
While Peter want some more time before becoming a grandparent, he hasn't ruled out the prospect of welcoming more children.
"If it’s going to happen, 2022 is the time," said the singer. "I’ve always said my limit was until I turn 50, so who knows!"
Elsewhere in his column Peter also wrote about his emotional reunion with elderly parents, Savvas and Thea, after travel restrictions eased in Australia.
The singer flew Down Under, along with son Junior, and he was over the moon to be back with his parents after more than two years.
“Being here with them has meant everything and the moment we were reunited was so emotional,” he shared.
“My mum isn’t very well but we have met up with people over here to get her some support, which was really important,” Peter added, crediting his sister Debbie for helping out their parents.
Peter said Junior was able to fly over “as a surprise” but Princess, Millie and Theo were “in school” so were unable to take part in the family reunion.
