Peter Andre pays tribute to Olivia Newton John after news of her death breaks during Grease interval

Peter Andre paid a heartfelt tribute to Olivia Newton John who died aged 73 on August 8 on today's instalment of Lorraine.

The fellow Australian star paid tribute to the iconic star during an appearance on the ITV breakfast show. Speaking to Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh, he recalled the moment he found out about Olivia's passing during his West End performance of Grease The Musical.

Peter made his West End debut earlier this year as he plays Teen Angel / Vince Fontaine throughout the Grease summer run, alongside another Aussie legend, Jason Donovan. Speaking to Ranvir about last nights performance, the Mysterious Girl singer said: “So first of all, everything that has been said about her is spot on, she was warm, it’s very rare to meet someone in this industry who is exactly what you hoped.”

He continued: "The show last night, the cast found out halfway through the show so when Olivia playing Sandy, a girl called Olivia Moore, and when the show finished she had to give an announcement to the audience to say the sad news. Honestly the audience were in shock, and it's going to be a very different show from now on for everybody. All those songs are so iconic."

Ranvir asked: "You're dedicating every performance to Olivia Newton John in the West End aren't you?" Peter confirms: "Yes I think that's what they're going to do, and rightfully so."

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Peter added: "I was so honoured and privileged and in awe when I got to meet her a few times. When I got to perform with her in Australia, I remember how she was backstage, how she was with everybody and she literally was so incredibly kind.

"It was that warmth that she portrayed all the time," he said. "Sometimes you don't see that warmth in people and on screen, you don't necessarily see it in real life but she was just like that. All of my experiences were like that with her.

"I'm just so sad. I'm so sad to hear it. But actually, it really shocked me last night when we were all just sitting here watching TV and my daughter goes to me 'What's wrong?' and I was just totally stunned, as many people were because she was just one of those people you just don't expect to hear that she's not here anymore."
