Peter Andre gives up on Love Island as he says Aussie version is better

Peter Andre has admitted he has "given up" on the UK version of Love Island, saying its Aussie counterpart is better viewing.

The singer, 49, confessed he has tuned out of the latest UK series, and believes watching two versions of the show is "too much," so his native country's offering that gets his vote.

The current edition of the UK series, which is being filmed in South Africa, is the first to have seen a crossover between the the two shows, with two bombshells from previous Down Under series rocking up on the UK version.

Despite his admission, Peter was quick to praise the role of new presenter Maya Jama. The 28-year-old took over from Laura Whitmore, 37, and has won rave reviews in the opening weeks.

In his column with OK!, Peter said: "I started watching Love Island but then I just faded out of it, although I love it.

"But Emily, Princess and I are also watching the Australian one and we’ve secretly got more into that. It’s just too hard to keep up with two series!"

He questioned whether having a winter and summer edition was indeed too much too, but said there was obviously an audience for it.

He then went on to gush over the "incredible" Maya Jama, praising her for the "great job" she is doing.

Maya has won rave reviews for her time on the show so far. Not only have fans been flocking to social media for her stunning outfits and beautiful looks, they've also been complimenting her on her vibes on Love Island: Aftersun.

In the latest edition, fans pleaded with bosses to make sure Maya and summer finalist Indiyah Polack remain on the sister show panel.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: "Sorry if I’m late but is Indiyah a permanent panel member? If it’s her and Maya on my TV every week this is the best decision the producers have ever made #loveisland #aftersun."

Another added: "The way indiyah and maya bounce off of each other is just amazinggggg. #aftersun #loveisland"

And a third said: "maya and indiyah are just so unreal. aftersun is finally watchable #Loveisland #Aftersun."

Monday's edition of the main show teased huge drama ahead of Tuesday's airing. In the teaser clip just before the end credits, Olivia seemed set to find out about Tom's secret kiss with Ellie, and her arch enemy Zara will be the one telling her all about it.
