Liverpool legend Pete Price has arrived at Ladies Day at Aintree and has been joking with racegoers about his journey to the course.
The Radio City presenter often attends the Grand National, and this year he announced that he’d had trouble getting to Aintree racecourse this morning. While chatting to an ECHO reporter, he shared that had an ‘important message’ for people.
He said: “Oh and by the way I’ve learned something very special, very important message - I could not get on the train before half past nine without paying. My bus pass didn’t work, so there’s a piece of information for you.”
He added: “That wasn’t a joke - you can’t get on the train before half past nine!” According to the Merseyrail website, Pete’s right - those with an Over 60s pass limits journeys before 9.30am on weekdays.
The site reads: “The Merseytravel Over 60s pass allows you to travel all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Any time Monday to Friday, except for journeys which start between 6.30am and 9.30am.”
Pete also spoke about how incredible the people at Aintree look today. He said: “The ladies are getting amazing, Liverpool never ever lets us down, never has done.”
He added: “Ladies Day, there’s Scousers everywhere, luckily the rain is staying off for now but I’m so pleased we’re getting back to normal.”
