Pete Davidson has reportedly checked into a wellness facility for mental health treatment.
The comedian had been on his Prehab tour, performing a series of stand-up comedy shows, but cancelled several upcoming dates in Florida following the news, as reported by the News-Press in Fort Myers.
Davidson has been candid about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse over the years, having sought treatment at various facilities in the past, most recently last year.
The former Saturday Night Live star first revealed in 2017 that he has Borderline Personality Disorder, a diagnosis he received the previous year.
According to the NHS, borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a disorder of mood and how a person interacts with others.
A source told People that Davidson’s mental health has “always been a priority” for him. The source further told the outlet that Davidson has been focusing on his sobriety.
While an insider told Access Hollywood the grind of over 200 stand-up shows on his recent tour, combined with rollercoaster personal events, have taken their toll.
The source shared: “He’s been through a lot and really wants to refocus. This time will allow Pete to recharge and come back stronger.”
The Standard has contacted Pete Davidson’s rep for comment.
Davidson's 2024 has been quite eventful. Earlier this month, he had a reckless driving charge from March 2023 dismissed and removed from his record.
He kicked off the year by releasing a Netflix special, Turbo Fonzarelli. Although his autobiographical series Bubkis on Peacock was renewed for a second season last year, Davidson revealed in March that he would not be continuing with the show.
Speaking with Variety in March, Davidson shared: “I do also feel that this part of my life is finished.
“I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”
