Pete Carroll: Seahawks ‘continued from where we left off’ in the draft

The Seattle Seahawks seem to be enjoying some brand new draft mojo these days. Despite being unrivaled in the draft from 2010-2012, some would make the case the Seahawks dropped off a bit in this department in the several years following their Super Bowl runs.

However, Seattle was rejuvenated in 2022 with an incredibly strong class, perhaps their best since 2012. The Seahawks found their bookend starting tackles in Charles Cross and Abe Lucas, they discovered athletic corners with Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant, and a bell cow running back with Ken Walker.

Seattle’s 2022 draft was met with positive reactions, but as the year progressed it became evident they hit several home runs, with ESPN declaring it was the No. 1 class from that draft.

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like the good times with the draft ended in 2022, as head coach Pete Carroll believes they picked up where things ended.

Carroll, via Seahawks.com:

“”It feels like we’ve continued from where we left off last year in the draft effort… Just the kinds of people, the opportunities that the guys are going to be faced with when they come here and they see their chances, it’s going to feel like last year in some regard… We love last year’s class, and we were fired up about this year’s class, and it just feels like we’ve added on to it. I’m really, really proud of the work that all the guys did and where we are right now. You have met a lot of these players and you can tell that they’re the kind of guys that we love, and it feels like an extension of some really good stuff. We’ve got to prove that, but it’s there for us to do. So It’s really exciting.”
