The Seattle Seahawks bucked the consensus in the 2023 NFL draft when they selected cornerback Devon Witherspoon No. 5 overall. Instead of Jalen Carter to bolster their defensive line, the Seahawks opted to make their secondary deeper.

Right now, the best thing the Seahawks can do for Witherspoon is wait for health. He is by no means a risk of missing out on a roster spot, so playing in the preseason has little value for him at this point.
Seattle is clearly trying to rebuild the Legion of Boom. They will need Witherspoon healthy and active in order to do so.
