Pet Shop Boys' Glastonbury performance suffers 'technical hitch' as duo deliver awesome set

Pet Shop Boys have come clean on the 'technical hitch' that hit the start of their epic set at Glastonbury.

The legendary duo, who recently wowed Newcastle's Utilita Arena on their Dreamland tour, closed out the festival on the Other Stage on Sunday night, kicking things off with sublime slice of pop Suburbia, with Neil appearing in front of their captive audience with his face covered by a mask.

If you've been to their tour, you'll know that Chris appears close by, sporting the same outfit, but for the opening numbers of Pet Shop Boys' Glastonbury performance, he was nowhere to be seen. North Shields born music icon Neil confessed that things hadn't gone entirely to plan mid way through the set, although it appeared the most of the audience hadn't clocked it.

After they brought things to a crescendo with It's a Sin, West End Girls and Being Boring, a post appeared on the Pet Shop Boys' Twitter on Monday morning, addressing the glitch, with it reading: "What a night at @glastonbury! The front screen didn’t go up at the beginning so Chris went and played keyboards upstage. Fabulous, huge crowd!"

Fans were quick to reassure the duo that the unfortunate error didn't detract from a fabulous 90 minute plus performances, with one replying: "Phenomenal. Thank you. Go West reduced me to tears it was so powerful. 50 yrs of UK Pride and PSB owning Glastonbury last nice. Peace and love and long may you continue your brilliant journey," with another commenting: "Superb set last night, you should’ve been the main headliners. Think you gave every psb fan a panic attack wondering where Chris was!"

A third reacted: "You were totally amazing, fantastic sound, great visuals, nice to hear some anecdotes, too. And regarding the technical glitch, never mind, that's live music," while another tweet from the band's account thanked Years and Years star Olly Alexander for being their special guest for a performance for Dreamland.

The Pet Shop Boys' set was a career spanning music masterpiece with other tracks pulled out of the locker including Can You Forgive Her, Always on My Mind and Left To My Own Devices.
