Perth woman jailed for tormenting her daughters over two decades

A Perth mum-of-two collapsed in the dock of the city’s sheriff court this week after being sentenced to serve two years in jail for violently abusing her daughters over two decades.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, dropped down to the floor almost immediately after being put in handcuffs by a female prison officer on Wednesday as solicitors, court officials and other defendants looked on.

The 64-year-old was warned the last time she appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in December last year to put her affairs in order ahead of her sentencing this week but still seemed shocked to be given a custodial sentence.
