Perth swimmer Stephen Milne has been selected to compete at a third Commonwealth Games.
The 28-year-old was named among a strong aquatics line-up for the Birmingham 2022 showpiece this summer.
Milne is no stranger to making a splash at the event and previously picked up freestyle relay medals at both Glasgow 2014 and then Gold Coast 2018.
He has also represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, winning relay silver.
Milne has more recently been training at Stirling University but, for the majority of his swimming career, he was a Perth City Swim Club regular at the local leisure pool under the guidance of coach Ann Dickson.
His heroics in the water led to him being presented with life membership of the club and he continues to be a role model for the next generation.
For Birmingham, former Perth Academy student Milne joins the likes of Ross Murdoch and Mark Szaranek at a third Games. Former Strathallan pupil Duncan Scott will also be looking to add to his growing medal haul.
A mix of experience and youth will be representing the country south of the border.
Ally Whike, Team Scotland Aquatics team leader, said: “I’m delighted with the make up of the aquatics team selected to compete for Team Scotland in Birmingham.
“With 60 per cent of the team competing at the Games for the first time, there is an excellent blend of newcomers and experienced campaigners.
“The competition in Birmingham will be world class and we know that the athletes are looking forward to the challenge and will be focusing on giving their best performance of the season when it counts.”
The country’s strength in the pool has brought much success through the years and Elinor Middlemiss, Team Scotland Chef de Mission, hopes that remains the case this time around.
Speaking yesterday, she said: “We are delighted to welcome such a mix of experience and youth to Team Scotland with this exciting team of swimmers and divers.
“Aquatics is one of Scotland’s most successful Commonwealth Games sports and, with the new facility at Sandwell providing a great venue, I’m sure we can count on a fantastic atmosphere and tough competition in Birmingham.
“Congratulations to all athletes selected and we look forward to seeing them compete in under 50 days time.”
Swimming and para-swimming competition at the Commonwealth Games takes place from July 29 to August 3 at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
