Perth Racecourse’s 2022 season was launched to the public this week as the venue prepares for what it hopes will be a first full calendar year with racegoers since 2019.
A bumper 15-fixture season, featuring racing favourites such as Perth Festival, Ladies Day and the Gold Cup raceday, was announced 12 weeks out from the season opener on April 20.
Priority access will be given to credit holders who have patiently waited for the return of some normality before finding a new opportunity to attend the races, after being unable to attend the fixture/s they originally bought tickets for during 2020 or 2021.
Now tickets for all 15 racedays are available to the public, which includes a complimentary racecard for all attendees and the usual offer of under 18s enjoying free entry if with a paying adult.
No alcohol can be brought on site following a policy change introduced in 2021 to “enhance the family atmosphere and comfort enjoyed by all racegoers”.
That emphasis on additional safety will be extended throughout the racecourse at all 15 fixtures with slightly reduced capacities on selected dates as the Perth Racecourse team work to ensure all racegoers can enjoy peace of mind during visits to Britain’s northernmost track.
Perth Racecourse CEO Hazel Peplinski said: “A top priority throughout the pandemic has been to safeguard the interests of our various customers whether they be racegoers, corporate guests or sponsors, as well as the owners, trainers and jockeys that provide the entertainment on the track with their horses.
“Experiencing the return of crowds last autumn reminded us why we work so hard to host our fixtures.
“That enthusiasm for attending live racing at Perth, the full respect we have given to minding everyone’s health throughout the last two years, and the more encouraging messages emanating from Holyrood this month all combine to create a very positive platform from which to launch this season’s tickets.
“After an incredibly testing two years, and without any complacency that we are completely out of the woods, the overriding emotions are joy and excitement that we can once again welcome sizeable crowds to Perth to enjoy the one passion we all share – live racing.
“Our 2022 fixture list gives everyone that chance to come to Perth in 2022 and enjoy the unique thrill of a day at the races in the countryside of Perthshire, starting with our ever-popular Perth Festival in April. In addition, this year we will further prioritise our racegoers comfort and safety on key racedays with a slightly reduced grandstand-side capacity.
“It all adds up to a hugely exciting season ahead and, with just 12 weeks until that opening race on Perth Festival day one, the countdown is well and truly on.”
