The wait for Persona 4 Revival and the inevitable Persona 6 seems insurmountable, but thankfully, there’s a new school RPG on the horizon that may satiate everyone’s hunger for Atlus-style RPGs, more specifically, since it’s made by former Atlus devs.
Persona and Megami Tensei’s co-creator, Kouji Okada, is working on this new, unnamed title at Compile Heart Studio, alongside several key figures who worked on those aforementioned titles. As reported by Gematsu, the game is described as “Kouji Okada’s final message to the next generation.”
Persona co-creator’s next game to be revealed on January 29, 2026

Compile Heart’s school RPG announcement was followed by a 50-second teaser trailer of the game and the launch of its official website, which details key development figures alongside Okada. Additionally, an announcement is scheduled for Jan. 26, 2026, where the game’s official title and (hopefully) a new trailer will be revealed.
Alongside Okada, who is the Project Producer on this new title, here are the developers working on this project:
- Character Design: Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045, Cyberpunk Edgerunners MV)
- Scenario: Tadashi Satomi (Persona: Revelations, and Persona 2: Innocent Sin)
- Sound Composer: Tsukasa Masuko (Megami Tensei, Megami Tensei 2, Shin Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei 2)
The 50-second teaser doesn’t reveal anything substantial about the game’s story or gameplay, but it does suggest a school setting with a psychological and sci-fi-based narrative. Terms such as “Resilience” pop up, a woman wearing a body suit, and there are flashes of DNA and cell structures in between, while another frame focuses entirely on a character’s pupils, all of which suggest an introspective, self-exploration-based story; very Persona-coded, to say the least.
There haven’t been many Persona-esque titles in recent memory. Some former SMT staff came together to make Monark, and while it had some novel ideas, it didn’t feel as cohesive or engaging as the games in the other two franchises.
In other news, Persona is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Atlus has a slew of anniversary announcements and events in store, as they “usher in the next chapter for the series,” their words, not mine. While it’s too early to expect a Persona 6 announcement, more details about Persona 4 Revival should be revealed this year.
