Person suffers 'life-threatening injuries' after being hit by train in Greater Manchester

A person was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a train in Trafford.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Humphrey Park train station just after 8am this morning (Monday). British Transport Police said they received 'reports of a casualty on the tracks'.

East Midlands Railway confirmed a person was hit by a train. Paramedics took them to hospital from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

No further details on the person have been released at this stage. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Earlier this morning, all train lines were blocked between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central. Routes by East Midlands Railway, TransPennine Express and Northern were affected by delays and cancellations.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Humphrey Park railway station at 8.02am on 26 June following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to local hospital with life-threatening injuries. This incident is not being treated as suspicious."
