Person rushed to hospital after fire at Scots prison as mercy crews race to scene

Prison HMP Addiewell West Lothian

A person has been rushed to hospital after a fire broke out at a Scots prison this evening.

Mercy crews raced to HMP Addiewell, near West Calder in West Lothian, after the alarm was raised at around 3.35pm on Wednesday. Emergency services were alerted to a fire within the prison.

Ambulance crews attended and a casualty was taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.
