A person was taken to hospital after being rescued from a vehicle that flipped onto its side in a crash. Emergency services raced to the collision at a busy junction on Hyde Road, close to the city centre on Monday night.
A cordon was erected at the junction with Pottery Lane, with numerous police vehicles, paramedics and the fire service in attendance. The incident happened just after 9.30pm.
The nature of any injuries are not yet known, but one of the drivers was taken to hospital after the crash. One of the cars involved flipped onto its side in the middle of the junction, with dramatic pictures showing the damage, including a smashed windscreen.
Hyde Road (A57) in Gorton was immediately closed at the junction with Pottery Lane. Transport for Greater Manchester announced the closure on Monday evening, with bus routes also diverted and drivers urged to find other routes.
A witness told the M.E.N that a police helicopter had also been flying overhead moments before the crash, which involved two vehicles. Further details about the incident have not yet been confirmed, but police remained at the scene late into Monday night conducting investigations.
