One person has been rescued by firefighters from a blaze in an upstairs flat in South Bristol this afternoon. Police, fire and ambulance all attended the scene at around 3.30pm in Stockwood, after neighbours called 999 reporting a blaze at a flat.
Details on the condition of the casualty and the cause of the fire are yet to be confirmed by the emergency services, but one eye witness said an air ambulance from the Great Western Air Ambulance charity landed close to the scene to convey the injured person to hospital.
Fire crews and emergency service vehicles lined Dutton Road as a major response to the blaze, which broke out just before 3.25pm on the first-floor of a block of flats in Dutton Road.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the person inside the flat had to be rescued by firefighters and was injured. "A number of crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at a property in Stockwood at 15:29," she said.
"On arrival, crews found a fire affecting the first floor of the property. Fire crews rescued one casualty who was inside the property, and all persons have been accounted for. The casualty was conveyed to hospital by ambulance colleagues.
"Crews remain at the scene checking for hotspots and making the scene safe," she added.
