The New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch commended the efforts of investigators and the public after a person of interest was apprehended in connection to the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Over a span of just over five days, NYPD investigators meticulously sifted through thousands of hours of video footage, pursued hundreds of leads, and meticulously analyzed all forensic evidence, including DNA, fingerprints, IP addresses, and more, in order to narrow down their search.
Utilizing a variety of resources, investigators utilized drones, K-9 units, and even scuba divers during the extensive search operation.
Commissioner Tisch highlighted the traditional investigative methods employed by detectives, such as conducting door-to-door interviews with potential witnesses, which played a crucial role in the case.
The successful resolution of the case was attributed to a combination of classic detective work and cutting-edge technology, according to Tisch.
