One person has died and two others have been rushed to hospital after a multi-car smash on the A9. Police were called to reports of a two-car crash near Dunkeld at around 12.05pm on Friday, September 16.
Authorities say one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was reportedly taken to Ninewells Hospital by air ambulance.
A second causality was transported to the Dundee hospital by ambulance. Drivers faced hours of delays as emergency services closed the road in both directions to tend to the casualties and clear debris.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a two-car crash on the A9 near Dunkeld around 12.05pm on Friday, September 16, 2022. Emergency services attended, however, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Two people were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance and air ambulance. The road is currently closed in both directions and diversions have been put in place.”
Traffic Scotland confirmed the road re-opened as of 8.30pm.
