Person confirmed to have died after incident that saw air ambulance land in park

A woman died after an incident which saw an air ambulance helicopter land in Carmarthen Park. Emergency services were called to the scene early on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police the woman became unwell in nearby Lammas Street in the town centre. Paramedics were called to the street due to what they have described as a “medical emergency” at around 12.50pm. They were soon joined by personnel from Wales Air Ambulance who landed in nearby Carmarthen Park. A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.50pm on Tuesday, October 4, to a medical emergency in Carmarthen. We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where crews were also supported by a Wales Air Ambulance.”

The woman has not been named and no further details have been confirmed. A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We were called to Lammas Street, Carmarthen, at around 2pm on Tuesday, October 4. A woman had fallen unwell and sadly passed away. There were no suspicious circumstances around the death.”
