Joey Barton says the length of his new Bristol Rovers contract is a signal of the belief he has in the "project" at the Mem.
The manager, who had 12 months remaining on his deal, signed an extension on Friday that ties him to the Gas until the summer of 2026 – reward for leading the club back to League One at the first time of asking.
Barton was unable to prevent the Gas from being relegated after he took over in February 2021, but he has amassed a wave of momentum since, with the club winning promotion from League Two in incredible style in May. The 39-year-old insists he and Rovers are just at the beginning of their journey.
