In news that has me wondering whether an animated animal needs a publicist, Peppa Pig is in the throes of a hilarious feud with pop stars Clairo, Charli xcx and PinkPantheress.
The beef (or maybe pork?) kicked off on Tuesday, when Peppa Pig, the fictional animal and star of the namesake children’s series, did a video interview with music publication Pitchfork.
While that was noteworthy enough on its own (something about a pig being so close to a pitchfork feels perilous?), the interview only went more haywire when Peppa was asked whether she thinks Clairo is over or under-rated as a musician.
Bringing another pop star into the mess, Peppa channeled Mariah Carey when giving major side-eye and bluntly responding, “I don’t know her.” The shade!
It wasn’t long before Clairo got wind of the comments, and promptly took to X to fire off multiple reactions, including a simple “omfg” and a bunch of crying emojis in reply to a user who took the term ‘roasted’ too literally with pic of an actual pig being cooked on a rotisserie.
Clairo then shared a screenshot of her text thread with Charli xcx, who defended her against Peppa’s shade with the message, “let’s f*ck her up”. Petition for an Andy Cohen-hosted reunion for the girls to non-violently air their grievances starts now.

Things only got messier when PinkPantheress joined the fray. In the Pitchfork interview, Peppa praised the UK singer as “underrated” and said she “would like me because I’m pink too”, but PinkPantheress still loyally defended Clairo in her own response to the drama.

As for the source of Peppa and Clairo’s feud, it might date back to 2019, when Clairo did her own Pitchfork interview and spoke about Peppa’s height and… her mother; which is always a surefire way to kickstart drama.
“Can I tell you something about Peppa Pig? She’s 7’1″, she’s the tallest pig in the world,” Clairo said in the interview. “If she’s 7’1″, how tall is her mum?”
It’s possible that comment stuck with Peppa up until this point, or perhaps Clairo’s tracks simply aren’t on rotation in the pigsties and barnyards she frequents in her spare time.
While Clairo said she was done with the tit-for-tat, writing “ok that’s enough” on X, the messy queen in me would like very much if Peppa took a page from Clairo’s book and assembled a few of her own likeminded girlies for defence.
