Popular children's TV show Peppa Pig has introduced its first same-sex couple with a character revealing she has two mummies.
In an episode, aired on Channel 5 on Monday morning, the children were seen drawing pictures of their families. And Penny Polar Bear draws two female polar bears in dresses.
Penny then explains: "I’m Penny Polar Bear. I live with my mummy and my other mummy. One mummy is a doctor and one mummy cooks spaghetti. I love spaghetti."

Several people took to social media to welcome the LGBT characters, reports The Mirror. One person wrote on Twitter: "I find it very sweet that peeps pig is lgbtq friendly."
Another said: "Ok imma start by saying I have a 4 yr old cousin lol… THERE ARE LESBIAN MOMS IN PEPPA PIG????? adult shows struggle to do representation and peppa pig are just out here giving us lesbian polar bears???" A third added: "Great work @peppapig on introducing a family with two Mums."
Peppa Pig, which has been running since May 2004, is one of the most popular TV programmes for children. It features Peppa, her family and her friends enjoying the adventures of everyday activities.
