Pepe The Prawn Has Responded To His Viral Meme Status With An Unusual (But So Fair) Request

Pepe The King Prawn TikTok Meme

I’m still living for the Pepe the King Prawn memes sprouting up on TikTok, because who doesn’t like a bit of trauma dumping? It makes you feel a lil’ less alone in this cold, dark world.

The whole vibe of the meme is that it’s a low-fi snap of horrified-looking muppet Pepe paired with some truly cooked stories. Even celebs are jumping on the trend, with Joe Jonas using Pepe to talk about how he needed stitches before his Atlantic City concert and Ed Sheeran recalling the time he travelled from the UK to LA via boat for 10 days with Benny Blanco

But it seems that King Pepe himself has an issue with this unflattering pic of himself! We’ve all been there, Pepe.

In a TikTok shared by Disney, Pepe jumped on the photo carousel trend, but using a high-quality snap of himself wearing a snazzy shirt.

“Minding my own business when I find out I’ve been turned into a meme… FINALLY, okay!” the TikTok says.

“But then I realise the photo everybody is using is very blurry, my outfit is terrible, and I don’t even look hot. Unbelievable! So please use this Pepe-approved photo instead, okay?”

The comment section was flooded by TikTokers pointing out that Disney kinda missed the whole point of the meme. This version of Pepe looks far too put together to convey the sort of horror that is the olive oil story, the sitting in human shit story, or literally any of the horrific secrets being spilled on the app.

“Pepe we use the current picture because it portrays an energy of distress and confusion that this picture simply does not,” one person wrote.

“This Pepe looks like he has his life together. We want the Pepe that’s in the trenches!” another agreed.

“Pepe love you but this pic is serving ‘dad staring out [the] window at weather’ not ‘traumatised by the world’,” a third commented.

“You do not get to choose in what way you become memeified, Pepe,” another wrote.

Besides, Disney didn’t even switch on the option for people to save the photo! Poor Pepe, I think that unflattering pic is going to haunt him on the internet for quite some time.
