Pep Guardiola is, reportedly, set to make a surprise return to Manchester City, just months after stepping down as manager.
Guardiola has largely kept a low profile since leaving Man City at the end of last season. He was heavily linked with an immediate return to the dugout, but turned down the chance to coach the Italian national side.
The Spaniard has also kept his distance from the Etihad Stadium, staying in the background as Enzo Maresca bids to develop a new-look City team into his image.
Guardiola did, however, come out in support of his former club earlier in the week after Man City were found guilty of breaching the Premier League's financial rules.
While Guardiola’s reign overlapped with the period in which City were found to have seriously breached financial regulations, there is no suggestion that he was aware of any wrongdoing during his time at the club.
Taking to social media on Wednesday to address the situation, Guardiola wrote: "I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever.
"I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman [Khaldoon Al Mubarak], Ferran [Soriano, CEO], the players, staff, Enzo [Maresca, manager] and you, our unique supporters.
"Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."
Guardiola is set to prove Man City is indeed his club by attending their next home game, which is against Paris Saint-Germain on October 14 in a mouth-watering Champions League showdown.
According to reports, Guardiola's has told senior club figures he would like to 'be with his people' during this difficult time off the pitch.
It’s unclear as to whether Man City will have something planned for Guardiola in what would be the Spaniard’s first return to the Etihad since the final game of the 2025/26 campaign.
Man City have confirmed they have lodged an appeal after they were found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules by an independent commission.
