Pep Guardiola says sorry for Man City vile Anfield chants

Pep Guardiola has admitted he did not hear the vile chants by Manchester City supporters mocking the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters but has 'apologised' for the behaviour that tarnished his side's clash with Liverpool last week.

Liverpool beat the Citizens 1-0 on Sunday thanks to Mohamed Salah's strike late in the second half. However, behaviour from both sets of supporters marred the occasion and ultimately resulted in a mass fallout in the following days.

Away supporters in the Anfield Road End of the stadium could be heard chanting 'always the victims' throughout as tempers began to escalate over the course of the 90 minutes. As well as the vile chants, the away end concourse was also heavily vandalised with graffiti that referenced both the Hillsborough and Heysel tragedies during the 1980s.
