Pep Guardiola explains why Man City were unable to beat Aston Villa

Pep Guardiola credited a failure to be precise in the final third as the reason why Manchester City left Villa Park with just a point, rather than three, on Saturday.

City travelled to the Midlands to take on a struggling Aston Villa side that had lost four of its opening five matches but were left frustrated as the hosts made City pay for their wastefulness in front of goal.

Guardiola's side failed to register a shot on target in the first half but Erling Haaland opened the scoring after half-time as City looked sharper and hungrier. However, the likes of Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden failed to take make the most of the opportunities City created and with 15 minutes left Villa equalised through Leon Bailey. And the City boss has now detailed exactly why his side were unable to find the back of the net more than once during the Premier League encounter.

Sevilla boss explains what must change before Man City Champions League clash

Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui has outlined what his side must do when they face Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday.

City kick off their twelfth consecutive Champions League campaign with a trip to Seville to take on the Spanish heavyweights. City will enter the match at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in good spirits despite drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa on Saturday, having begun their Premier League title defence with four wins from six games.

The same cannot be said of Sevilla on the other hand, who have taken just one point from their opening four LaLiga matches. The pressure continued to mount on Lopetegui on Saturday evening, as his side were brushed aside 3-0 by a rampant Barcelona – and he has now told his players exactly what he expects from them on Tuesday.
