Manchester City's 4-0 thrashing of Southampton saw Pep Guardiola's side knock Arsenal off the top of the Premier League table. Erling Haaland was once again on the scoresheet as City maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
The Citizens going top could give Arsenal extra motivation for their game against Liverpool tomorrow. The Gunners have led the way for pretty much the whole season so far, and Mikel Arteta's side will be keen to wrestle back top spot.
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will challenge City for the title this season, but before their victory over Southampton, Guardiola admitted that Arsenal had been better than his side over the first eight games. A win over Liverpool would be another statement victory for Arsenal, who became the first team to beat Tottenham in the league last weekend.
