Pep Guardiola has already told Arsenal how Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah can play together

Pep Guardiola has already told Arsenal how Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah can play together.

Nketiah earlier this month ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract, and has been handed the no14 shirt at the same time - the squad number club legend Thierry Henry wore.

Mikel Arteta has made Jesus his top striker target and this week agreed a £45million fee for the striker, wiht personal terms not expected to be a problem.

With Nketiah keen to have a more prominent first-team role having re-committed to Arsenal, the likely arrival of Jesus could see his chances again under threat.

But Guardiola's past comments are good news for Nketiah and his central position, with Jesus better suited to a wider role.

"He's a centre forward, he can play there, but when he is played wide he is more comfortable," Guardiola previously said.

"We encourage him in central positions to be more open, to see the actions. He can play in the three positions up front, and when we need players who can help a lot, he’s the best in the world.

"(With him) we can be so aggressive, we can get extra rhythm for midfield players, can stay high."
