People Thought Joey King Was Sadie Sink During 'Practical Magic 2' Premiere but It's Her Sheer Dress That Drew More Attention

Joey King had London's red carpet doing a double-take when she arrived at the European premiere of Practical Magic 2 in a striking sheer butter-yellow Miu Miu gown. While the actress was there to promote the highly anticipated sequel, her appearance quickly became a talking point online for two very different reasons: her resemblance to fellow actress Sadie Sink and her daring red-carpet outfit.

King joined Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and Maisie Williams at the film's premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on 26 August. She plays Kylie Owens in the sequel, which brings a new generation of characters into the magical world first introduced in the 1998 original.

Joey King's Sheer Miu Miu Dress Turns Heads

For the London premiere, King opted for a custom Miu Miu look featuring a translucent butter-yellow gown decorated with delicate white floral appliqués. Beneath the sheer material, she wore matching yellow underwear, creating the revealing 'naked dress' effect that has become increasingly popular on celebrity red carpets.

King gave the sheer-dress trend a distinctly witchy twist for the Practical Magic 2 promotional tour. Her long red hair was styled in loose waves, with wispy bangs framing her face, while matching yellow heels complemented the gown. The combination of her copper-toned hair, soft make-up and romantic dress created an almost otherworldly appearance that appeared perfectly suited to the film's supernatural theme.

The outfit itself also divided fashion commentators. While some praised the delicate colour and floral details, others questioned the increasingly sheer nature of red-carpet fashion, particularly because the matching underwear became such a prominent part of the ensemble.

Fans Confuse Joey King With Sadie Sink

The dress was not the only reason King attracted attention. Photos from the premiere also prompted some social media users to mistake her for Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.

The confusion appeared to stem largely from King's styling. Her long copper-red hair, wispy fringe and understated make-up created a resemblance to Sink's familiar red-haired appearance, leading some viewers to take a second look before recognising that the woman on the red carpet was actually King.

The comparison added another layer to the online reaction, with fans discussing the similarities between the two actresses while simultaneously focusing on King's dramatic outfit.

King's red-carpet appearance comes as anticipation builds for Practical Magic 2. The sequel reunites Bullock and Kidman as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, while King and Williams join the franchise as the younger generation of the Owens family.

A New Generation Enters the Magical World

The London premiere marked an important moment for the long-awaited sequel, arriving almost three decades after the original Practical Magic. Bullock and Kidman once again take centre stage, while the younger cast members bring a fresh dynamic to the supernatural story.

King's character Kylie is part of that new generation, making the actress' fashion choices during the promotional tour particularly fitting. Rather than simply recreating the visual style of the original film, the cast has embraced modern interpretations of witch-inspired fashion.

For King, however, the London premiere became about more than simply promoting the film. Her combination of red hair, delicate styling and a daring sheer Miu Miu gown ensured she became one of the night's most discussed stars, even if some viewers initially thought they were looking at Sadie Sink.

With Practical Magic 2 preparing for its theatrical release in September, King's latest red-carpet appearance has certainly cast a spell on social media.
