People think a 'boutique' new sex shop will cause ‘sex tourism’ in their seaside town

There are fears a new “boutique” sex shop will increase "sex tourism" and “attract the wrong type of visitors” to a small Welsh seaside town.

Those who don't want the new shop, called Eva Amour, to keep trading also claim its location opposite a church where funerals take place, is “offensive to mourners” and other church-goers, especially as it is open on Sundays.

Other objections centre on the impact on youngsters returning from beaches, shopping nearby with their parents or attending a play centre some 200 yards away. There is also concern the sex shop in Barmouth will make the town a “destination for stag and hen parties”. And others said they wanted to preserve the town’s genteel tourism mix of “funfair, donkey rides and ice cream shops”.
