Visitors reportedly 'screamed' when a person fell ill while riding a rollercoaster at Alton Towers. The Galactica ride at the park in Staffordshire had to be stopped to medics could rush to the aid of the rider.
One woman who witnessed the drama on Thursday described how onlookers were distressed. She told the M.E.N: "The people witnessing around the ride were getting distressed by the screaming, and some kids were even crying because it was scary."
A spokesperson for Alton Towers confirmed that the incident was not related to the safety of the ride. The person who fell ill "required assistance" and was helped by medics, the spokesperson added. The theme park has spoken with their family "to wish them a speedy recovery".
