Up to £1.4m is being distributed across Liverpool to help those aged 65 and over with their energy bills this winter.
Citizens Advice Liverpool is distributing the Household Support Fund on behalf of Liverpool City Council. People can apply for up to £250 and in 'exceptional circumstances' some may be entitled to payments up to £500.
To be considered for the funding people must be over 65 and living in the Liverpool Local Authority Area, and at the moment referrals can only be made through local charity partners who are members of the Liverpool Access to Advice Network. They must also claim any kind of benefit or income support. This includes a state pension.

The payment will come in addition to any cost of living payments and alongside any benefits or pensions. This includes the government's Winter Fuel Payments. If you were born on or before September, 25, 1956 and receive benefits or a pension you will automatically be given some funding and will not have to apply online.
Referrals can be made through local charity partners who are members of the Liverpool Access to Advice Network. From Monday, Citizens Advice Liverpool will be accepting self referrals online.
