The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will start to make the first of two payments which make up the £650 means-tested cost of living payment from Thursday. Eligible claimants in receipt of certain benefits will be paid £326 between July 14 and 31.
More than 8 million households claiming low-income benefits will receive a payment over the coming weeks to help with rising costs, however, when SNP MP John McNally, recently asked the DWP if there were plans to “make it policy to allow those in the process of transferring from legacy benefits to Universal Credit to also receive the cost of living support package”, DWP highlighted how those on income-related, older-style benefits will qualify for the cash support.
DWP Minister, David Rutley MP also highlighted important qualifying details for those in receipt of Universal Credit.
