A Newcastle recruitment company is planning the next phase of its growth with the latest addition to its top-level team.
Catalyst specialises in technical, professional and executive recruitment, and from its base in Newcastle has helped to source talent for corporates including EY, P&G and PwC, alongside North East businesses such as Ebac and True Potential.
The business has now appointed Andrew Hoyle, a leading lawyer who has held a host of high-profile roles in the region, as its company secretary. Mr Hoyle joins other leaders who have recently joined Catalyst, including Lee Ieronymides, former managing director of Solutions Recruitment, as its principal consultant, and former EY associate audit partner Darren Rutherford as an executive advisor.
The team also has Roger Blight as its business coach, who previously was financial director of footwear across the UK and Europe at Nike.

Sunderland-based housing association Gentoo Group has appointed interim chief executive officer Louise Bassett on a permanent basis with immediate effect. Ms Bassett joined the group seven years ago as executive director of corporate services and has been acting in the interim position since January.

Ms Bassett has more than 20 years’ experience across senior private sector roles in consumer and healthcare organisations. She joined Gentoo to assist with the organisation’s transformation project and is passionate about maximising the potential of all colleagues across the organisation.
YoungsRPS has appointed Chris Arundel to its Sedgefield team to help steer growth across the region.
Mr Arundel, a chartered surveyor and registered valuer, has over 25 years’ experience working across the UK property market and joins from Joe Fraser Chartered Surveyors. He was previously head of agency at GSC Grays, responsible for Teesside, County Durham, and North Yorkshire.
He said: “I am delighted to be able to join youngsRPS. They are a very well respected and established firm where I will be keen to contribute with a depth of experience and knowledge to the Sedgefield team and a wider client base over time. A Newcastle solicitor advocate has taken on a new role with the Northumberland National Park Authority.
Adam Chaffer, an associate in the dispute resolution and construction team at North East law firm Hay & Kilner, has been appointed as the authority’s Independent Person for Standards. The role, which is a statutory appointment, aims to both promote and champion good governance and standards within the authority and supports the work of its monitoring officer in respect of the Park’s code of conduct.
He is already both a director of and company secretary to the county’s destination marketing body, Visit Northumberland. He has previously served as an elected governor at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust and as company secretary of Newcastle Cricket Club CIC.
Jean Davidson, chair of Northumberland National Park Authority, said: “Adam is an excellent appointment for Northumberland National Park Authority at a time when standards in public life are more important than ever. Berwick based accountancy firm Greaves West & Ayre (GWA) has announced that associates David Renton has become a partner in the business.
Mr Renton began his career with GWA in 2000 in the corporate services department and he is now head of GWA’s corporate services team which is where his main focus lies. North East’s specialist M&A boutique WilliamsAli has appointed award-winning dealmaker Paul Kaiser as chairman.
He will share his skills and experience to support founders Abu Ali and Phil Williams, in guiding and developing the WilliamsAli team and further strengthening its position in the North East marketplace.
Mr Kaiser has spent 40 years in leadership roles, including 27 years with Deloitte. His appointment comes at a time when the WilliamsAli team are actively managing a number of significant deals slated for completion later this year.
