People now showering with their Apple Airpods in after learning they're 'water resistant'

People have admitted they are now taking showers with their Apple Airpods still in after learning they are 'water resistant'. The revelation emerged on TikTok, as Mean Girl podcast host Alex Bennett told co-star Jordyn Woodruff that she now listens to music and takes calls with washing herself after discovering the headphones' feature.

In a clip of their discussion, captioned: "This fact will change your life", Alex said: "I recently realised my Airpods were waterproof, so I've been showering with my Airpods in, like jamming out."

In response to her co-hosts shocked face, she added: "Oh yeah, they're waterproof. You can get them wet. I wash my hair with them in and I listen to music the entire time and if somebody calls I'm like 'answer'. Boom."

When asked what series she has by Jordyn, Alex replied: "I don't know... my dad washed his headphones and texted me like 'oh my God, they still work, they're waterproof'. I was like, 'boom'."

The clip has captured many people's attention, racking up more than 2.2 million views and thousands of likes and hundreds of comments. However, several were keen to correct Alex and reiterate that the headphones are not waterproof, but some are actually water resistant.

Will Allen replied: "Water resistant lol." Beau Roberts echoed: "Please be aware they are water resistant so if you test this it’s not Apple warranty backed." Beatyouwithkindness stressed: "Absolutely NOT."

Meanwhile, Eric wrote: "The pro2 are water resistant but I dropped mine in the pool and they still work so maybe I’m just lucky." NaturallyMi claimed: "I’ve washed mine a thousand times still work lol."

Tori put: "My husband washed his too and they still work!" Ricky Sanford-howard also said: "Mine went through the washing machine. Still going strong a couple years later."

According to the official Apple website, AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation), AirPods (3rd generation), MagSafe Charging Case for AirPods (3rd generation), Lightning Charging Case for AirPods (3rd generation) and MagSafe Charging Case for AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are water and sweat resistant, but they are not waterproof or sweatproof.

It adds: "The MagSafe Charging Case and Wireless Charging Case for AirPods Pro (1st generation) are not water or sweat resistant. AirPods Pro and AirPods (3rd generation) aren't designed for use in water sports, such as swimming, or for showering.

"After workouts, heavy sweating or water splashes, and before putting AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) into the charging case, wipe down your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Don't use heat or compressed air to dry your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation)."
