A cheap and cheerful pasta dish is a staple meal for many households on a weekday.
However, there's one crucial step to making any pasta dish that has left social media users baffled as it turns out thousands of people may have been doing it wrong the entire time, the Mirror reports.
A TikToker has shared a life hack that makes draining the water from pasta much easier and also less time-consuming. The popular user who is known as @tiger_lee_uk boasts over 50,000 followers and posts a range of handy tips and tricks for everyday life but his latest hack has blown people's minds.
The viral clip which shows people how to strain their pasta the right way has now racked in over 18.5m views. Many social media users were left ecstatic about the clever trick and excited to try it out for themselves.
The post which was captioned: 'We learn new things every day' encouraged people to forget all other methods they've previously used for straining their pasta. The most well known method people typically used is draining the pasta water over the sink at an angle and simply pouring the contents back in.
However, this nifty trick brings about a new technique and also prevents the inconvenience of transferring the pasta between pans and the strainer.
The video demonstrates someone straining their pasta with the famous TikTok sound playing in the background which says: "Show me the life hack that you randomly saw one day and is now an unconscious standard practice in your life."
The handy tip teaches viewers to put the strainer inside the pan and pour the water out in one quick motion by tipping it upside down rather than holding the pan at an angle and pouring the water through it.
Viewers fled to the comment section with many left dumbfounded by the hack while others claimed they have already been using that technique for years.
One amazed user said: "Awesome" while a second who was equally surprised exclaimed: "WOW."
On the other hand, another user wrote: "That's how you are meant to use it." and another agreed by adding: "My mum taught me that."
Another unimpressed person questioned: "I thought everyone did that?" Someone else responded "My dad always do [sic] this even when I didn't [sic] see this video."
