People Before Profit has called on Sinn Féin, the Social Democrats and other opposition left parties to form an alliance that would shun Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil following the next election.
However, the Labour Party has not been included in the discussions to form an election pact, the Irish Mirror understands.
People Before Profit has said that the next Government should not consist of either Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael and that the left should unite ahead of the election, which is scheduled to take place in or before 2025.

In letters sent to Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald and new Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns, seen by the Irish Mirror, Richard Boyd Barrett said that the left parties should unite as the two big parties cannot “play any progressive role in the future”.
“This Thursday our party will publish a policy document on the need for a Left Government to address the multiple crises affecting our country,” he wrote.
“One of the core issues for us is the need for left parties to explicitly rule out, in advance of the next election, entering any Government with the civil war parties of the right.
“We believe these parties have led us to the profound crises in housing and health, and, with the continuation of their failed neoliberal policies, have helped in facilitating the rise of the far right in this state.
“We believe the failure in the past of left parties to deliver on the project for real change has been the decision to enter such coalitions and prop up conservative parties who have no intention of taking the measures and policies needed to deliver a just and equitable society for all.
“We do not believe Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael can play any progressive role in the future. We believe it is urgent that genuine left parties offer a clear alternative to the electorate that explicitly rules out any coalition with the parties of the right ahead of the next election.
“We are therefore inviting yourselves and others to join with us in clearly stating that you support the formation of a radical left alternative that rules out cooperation with Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael in any future Government coalition.”
Mr Boyd Barrett added that his party would be happy to meet with others to discuss the possibility of entering Government together and how they would campaign ahead of the election.
The Irish Mirror understands that a letter was not sent to the Labour Party or its leader Ivana Bacik.
Sinn Féin has previously said that it will speak to all parties to form a Government following the next election but would prefer not to form a coalition with Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.
