Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and former president of Y Combinator, has become a leading voice in the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and its integration into everyday life. In a recent exchange at a Y Combinator event, Altman addressed the increasing use of ChatGPT as a central hub for managing information and tasks, highlighting a shift in how people interact with technology.
Altman observed, “People are starting to use ChatGPT as this operating system with everything, with their whole lives in it. And integrating into as many data sources as possible is important.” This perspective is rooted in Altman’s extensive background in technology and startups. After co-founding Loopt, a pioneering location-based social networking app, Altman joined Y Combinator, where he became president in 2014. Under his leadership, Y Combinator expanded its influence, backing companies like Airbnb (ABNB), Dropbox (DBX), and Stripe, and cementing its reputation as a launchpad for transformative tech ventures.
