People are only just realising what the 'cute' shoulders on baby grows are actually for

A birth educator has shared one of the 'most simple yet frequently unknown facts about baby onesies', and it could save parents from dealing with a lot of unpleasant mess. Mum Kaila, who regularly shares pregnancy, birthing, and parenting content with her Instagram followers, recently shared the super helpful reason baby grows have what is known as 'envelope shoulders'.

For those who aren't familiar with this term, 'envelope shoulders' refers to the little folded flaps on the shoulders of baby grows, which many parents simply regard as a sweet design choice.

Demonstrating the true purpose of the folds using her own son's baby grow, Kaila explained how they can actually be a lifesaver at times when your baby has 'a blowout'.

In a video shared to Instagram, Kaila, who goes by the username @notyourmamasbirth, revealed: “Now you might think they’re cute, give the baby extra room for their big old head.

“Actually, if baby has a blowout, you do not want to send that onesie up over their head and get poop all over them. That’s where the envelope shoulders come in. Simply peel them down, get that onesie [off] of that baby that way. Easy peasy.”

In the caption of the vid, she added: "Babies have big heads and also monster poops. Do yourself a favor and memorize this lil not-so-secret trick to make cleaning up that blowout a tad easier!"

The helpful clip has proved to be a huge hit with her followers, many of whom are only just learning what the handy flaps are actually for.

One regretful parent commented: "Ended up cutting my daughter out of a onesie after a poonami one time, so I didn’t have to get poo on her face …..got told this four months later!"

Another gasped: "Wait wait wait, you mean to f****** tell me that this whole time my kids been having these types of onesies, and during blowouts I'm struggling to get it off and tucking the bottoms when I could've done this?!"
