Plasters are a necessity when you get a cut or graze, while body tape has its uses too – from preventing gaping to keeping clothing exactly where you want them.
They both do this because they have a sticky, adhesive side to them that sticks to your body – which can be incredibly painful to remove, especially if you have a lot of hair.
However, it turns out all the time you've spent carefully lifting plasters and body tape from your skin, bit by bit, to prevent causing too much pain – has been for nothing.
People are only just realising that there is an incredible simple, and cheap, hack that can be used to remove these things, completely pain free.
The hack has recently been shared by Intimacy Coordinator Jessica Steinrock, who choreographs romantic scenes in films, and she says it's a trick of the trade.
When working on films, Jessica will often use body tape on actors, for example to stick a strapless thong on someone to give the illusion of being naked – but they don't want it to be painful to take off.
In a recent video, Jessica shared: "If you didn't know, we use baby oil to remove tape," and added that the hack also works with plasters.
The intimacy expert demonstrated that if you apply baby oil to the whole plaster or piece of tape, making sure it's completely covered, it will "ruin the adhesive".
After showing the hack on herself, she added: "It's basically falling off my arm. This is the best way to remove body tape, or anything that's sticky."
You can pick up baby oil from any supermarket or health and beauty retailers from as little as £1.50.
Baby oil, which is designed for keeping skin soft, often used on babies, has many other brilliant uses – including buffing leather so it shines.
People in the comment section were blown away by the hack, and they couldn't believe they didn't know it sooner.
One person said: "OMG!! I had blood drawn the other day and it hurt so bad when I took the tape off. I could have used baby oil."
Another commented: "Hmm. Wish I knew this when my kids were little and band-aids! I used to soak in water."
