Sprouts are a divisive, yet popular, item on a Christmas dinner.
But whether you eat and enjoy them or stay as far away from them as possible, many people may not know the actual way to pronounce the name. It turns out, many people have been saying "Brussel sprouts" instead of "Brussels sprout".
Earlier this year, a Twitter user said their entire life had "felt like a lie" after realising the small mistake, the Daily Star reports. They wrote: "Apparently, it's actually 'Brussels sprout' and not 'Brussel Sprouts'."

Many people were quick to comment that they too, had been saying it wrong their whole lives. One user said they simply could not come to terms with the truth as another said they were "today years old".
The Daily Star reports that Brussels sprouts got their name back in the 18th Century from France, possibly due to the fact they were grown near to the city of Brussels. Despite its Belgian name of origin, the largest producer in the world for Brussels sprouts is in the Netherlands.
Despite being a popular item on a Christmas dinner, many people say you either love them or hate them. Walkers even released a flavour of the crisps a few years back, which came as a surprise to a few.
With Christmas on the horizon, many people will be gearing up to buy their Christmas essentials, including Brussels sprouts. Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis revealed the cheapest supermarket to buy your Christmas dinner.
