Pentagon Official Solves 2016 UFO Mystery

Pentagon building in Arlington

A Pentagon official informed Congress on Tuesday that a significant UFO mystery from 2016 has been solved. The incident involved an object captured flying at high speed just above water by a fighter jet from the USS Theodore Roosevelt off the east coast of Florida. This incident, known as the 'GOFAST' video, gained public attention in the following year.

The black and white video, recorded from a fighter jet's head-up display, showed the pilot locking onto the object with an exclamation of surprise. However, Dr. Jon Kosloski, the director of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), revealed that the object was not anomalous as initially thought. Through detailed analysis, it was determined that the object was actually 13,000 feet above the sea and not hovering over the water.

Kosloski explained that the perceived high speed of the object was due to a visual phenomenon called parallax, which created the illusion of rapid movement. The AARO conducted geospatial intelligence analysis and trigonometry calculations to confirm the object's altitude.

Additionally, Kosloski presented resolved cases of other UFO sightings, including 'The Puerto Rico Objects' and 'Mt. Etna.' In the case of 'Mt. Etna,' an object captured near the erupting volcano was meticulously analyzed to determine its distance from the volcanic plume.

Despite resolving numerous cases, Kosloski emphasized that not all unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) can be explained as birds, balloons, or drones. The AARO continues to investigate cases involving objects like an 'orange orb' and 'a metallic cylinder.'

The AARO was established by the Department of Defense in 2022 to centralize reporting of UFO sightings by military and government personnel. Kosloski clarified that while they have not found evidence of extraterrestrial beings or technology, some UAPs remain unexplained.

These findings contrast with statements made by Luiz Elizondo, the former head of the Defense Department's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), who recently testified about the existence of extraterrestrial life.
