Pensioners left freezing in 'dingy' hotel room after spending nearly £1,000 of savings on 'dream holiday'

A pensioner couple who used up £1,000 of their savings to go on a 'dream holiday' say they were left stuck in a dingy room "like prisoners" for a week.

John Robinson, 82, and his wife Sally had spent many summers in Southport. The couple, from Burnley, have a history with Southport - and say the coastal town is one that they considered a dream holiday destination.

In September 2022, John and Sally finally used up their savings for an extended stay in hotel they'd always dreamed of staying in, reports LancsLive. The Royal Clifton Hotel in Southport has always been on the couple's bucket list according to their son Kev Robinson, 43.
