A OAP has been left stranded on the other side of the world after his cruise ship left without him while he was wrongfully forced off to undergo medical tests. Holidaymaker Christopher Capel, 72 boarded a P&O Cruises vessel at the start of the year and had just been over halfway through a 100-day journey around the world when disaster struck.
After the ship docked on the island of Palawan in the Philippines on March 4, Christopher started feeling unwell and tried to go back to his room for a lie-down but was sent to the hospital by the doctor on board instead. By the time medics had carried out all their tests and given him antibiotics for heatstroke, the cruise ship he was on had left the port without him, Wales Online reports.
The pensioner who is diabetic had left his insulin in the cabin so his blood sugar fell dangerously low, causing hypoglycemic shock which led to a brief diabetic coma. Mr Capel who is a retired youth worker is now living an 'absolute nightmare' after being left in limbo and is struggling to find a way home.
