A pensioner sent a picture of his penis to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl and was confronted at his doorstep by so-called paedophile hunters. He told the decoy to delete pictures of his body and asked if they could be "friends" when she turned 16.
Ian Owen, 67, was living in Tonyrefail in August last year when he began an online conversation with the decoy. She clearly stated she was 13 years old but Owen said he was "nervous" chatting to her because of her age and made reference to older men grooming girls and police monitoring.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday heard the conversation became more sexual from the defendant and he asked the decoy if she wanted to see his tan. He then sent a picture of his erect penis and told her what he would do with it, saying he liked to masturbate.
