A pensioner was rushed to hospital after he was struck by a car while walking his dog in Newcastle.
Shortly before 10.30am today (Tuesday), Northumbria Police received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car travelling southbound at Crofter’s Lodge on the A167, Ponteland Road.
Officers from Northumbria Police are now appealing to the public for information after a collision in Newcastle has left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the 70-year-old male pedestrian was out walking his dog when he was struck by the car.
Officers and emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital where he currently remains.
The dog sustained minor injuries and has since been checked over by a vet.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.
A spokesperson for the Force has appealed to the public to come forward with any information which may assist with their investigation.
They said:
