Pensioner in her 70s robbed by bogus cold caller in East Belfast after distraction burglary

A woman in her 70s has been the victim of a distraction-style burglary amid warnings from the PSNI to be wary of cold-callers to your door.

Police said a sum of money from a wallet was taken after a man claiming to be from the Water Board gained entry under false pretences to a property on Saint Kilda Street in South Belfast on Thursday evening, December 1.

Detective Sergeant Young said: “Shortly after 6:15pm, it was reported to police that a man called to a house in the area claiming to be from the Water Board at around 3pm.
