Pensioner dies suddenly onboard bus near Edinburgh ASDA Superstore

A pensioner has died on a bus near an ASDA Superstore in Edinburgh.

Emergency services raced to The Jewel in the east of the capital after the alarm was raised at around 3.20pm on Monday, May 2.

Officers taped off a bus after receiving a report of a man having taken unwell on board.

Ambulance crews attended but the 66-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received a report of a man having taken unwell on a bus at The Jewel in Edinburgh around 3.20pm on Monday, May 2, 2022.

“Emergency services attended and a 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not suspicious and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
